ICAR-KVK Dimapur conducted one day Hands On Training on value addition of pineapple at KVK Dimapur. The training programme was coordinated by Dr. Chingakham Sima Chanu, Subject Matter Specialist, Home Science, KVK Dimapur in collaboration with the Green Hills Research and Development, Chumukedima. The programme was started with the Hands-On Training in preparation of Pineapple RTS Beverage, Pineapple squash and Pineapple jam. In the valedictory programme, Dr. Phool Kumari, Senior Scientist Cum Head, KVK Dimapur encouraged the farmers to enhance the skills in pineapple processing so that pineapple will not go in wastage during the peak season and that will enhance the income of the farmers. She further highlighted to collaborate more in other training programmes also. Mr.Masabenba, Founder and Chairman, Green Hills Research and Development encouraged the farmers to move forward with the training received at the KVK Dimapur so that farmers can start opening their outlets in food processing by utilizing the pineapples available in the farmers field as the raw materials. He emphasized that such skill development training programme is required to organize from time to time to enhance the skills and knowledge of the farmers in the field of food processing. Dr. Bendangla Imsong, Subject Matter Specialist, Plant Breeding, KVK Dimapur also encouraged the farmers to take such opportunity in the future so that they can improve their skills in food processing and this will pave a way for the farmers to enhance their incomes. Altogether, 30 farmers participated, alongside KVK Staffs, including Dr. Ebibeni and Dr. Moanaro. The Hands On Training programme encouraged farmers in enhancing their skills for entrepreneurship development.
